Before your appointment

There is very little you need to do in advance, and nothing to fill in beforehand — the consultation form is completed on arrival, not ahead of time. The one thing that genuinely helps is coming with a list of any medicines and supplements you take, and any relevant diagnoses or recent test results if you have them to hand. This matters more for the tablet than you might expect, because some medicines interact with the taking rules, and having the full picture lets us plan your routine properly at the first appointment rather than catching up later. If you do not have any of this, do not worry — we will work through it together.

It also helps to come with your own questions. This is a conversation, and the more honest it is — about your history, your previous attempts, your concerns — the better the advice you get from it.

What happens, step by step

When you arrive at the clinic, you complete a short digital consultation form covering your medical history and current medicines. You then sit down with an Independent Prescriber pharmacist, who measures your height and weight to establish an accurate BMI — done in clinic rather than taken on trust, which protects you in both directions. From there it is a conversation: your medical history, any weight-related conditions, previous weight loss attempts, any past experience with GLP-1 medicines, and what you are hoping treatment will do. If anything in your history needs closer attention before prescribing, we will say so.

The questions we’ll ask (and why)

Some of the questions may feel personal, and there is a clinical reason behind each. We ask about other medicines because some interact with semaglutide or with the tablet’s empty-stomach timing. We ask about your history of conditions such as pancreatitis, thyroid and gallbladder problems because they affect suitability. We ask about pregnancy plans because the medicine is not suitable during pregnancy, breastfeeding or while trying to conceive. And we ask, gently, about any history of disordered eating — not to exclude you automatically, but because an appetite-suppressing medicine should never be prescribed into that history without care.
