Speciality vaccines to address health concerns.
Private Vaccinations
Every appointment at Edinburgh Vaccination Clinic is led by a GPhC-registered pharmacist independent prescriber. The assessment, prescription and vaccination all happen in one visit at 129 Bruntsfield Place — no GP referral needed. We review your vaccination history and medical background first, and only recommend what is clinically appropriate for you.
Private vaccination is often the practical route when you fall outside NHS eligibility: adults catching up on MMR or chickenpox doses missed in childhood, university students arranging Meningitis B protection, parents-to-be booking the whooping cough vaccine in pregnancy, or adults over 50 choosing the shingles vaccine without waiting for an NHS invitation. Costs vary by vaccine and course length — current prices are on our vaccine price list, and you can book online at any time.
Why patients choose us for private vaccines
Your Questions Answered
No. Our pharmacists are independent prescribers, so the assessment, prescription and vaccination are all completed in one appointment at the clinic.
Private Bexsero vaccination is most commonly arranged by adults and university students who are not covered by the NHS childhood programme. It is a two-dose course, prescribed and administered at the clinic. See our Meningitis B page for full details.
Yes. We offer Shingrix, the non-live vaccine used in current UK practice, as a two-dose course. It is licensed for adults aged 50 and over, and for adults 18 and over at increased risk of shingles. Suitability is confirmed at your consultation — you do not need to wait for an NHS invitation.
UK guidance recommends pertussis vaccination in every pregnancy, offered from 16 weeks and ideally around 20 weeks, to protect the baby in the first weeks of life. We can review your timing and arrange vaccination at the clinic.
Yes, in most cases. Adults who missed doses or are unsure of their history can usually complete a two-dose MMR course with a month between doses, and non-immune adults can have a two-dose chickenpox course at least four weeks apart. Both are live vaccines, so suitability is checked at your appointment — they are generally not given in pregnancy or to people with significant immunosuppression.
Prices vary by vaccine and by the number of doses in the course. Current prices are published on our vaccine price list, and the full cost is confirmed with you at the consultation before anything is given.
